Welcome to our Community Pantry. We believe that no one in our community should have to choose between putting food on the table or taking care of their mental wellbeing. Run by our dedicated outreach and counselling team, the Life-Gate Community Pantry is a free, confidential and additional support service designed to ease your daily burdens and provide nourishment when you need it most.
The Community Pantry operates on Tuesday, Wednesday & Friday between 11am and 2pm. Intake assessments finish at 1:30pm so please arrive no later than 1:30pm if you would like to access the pantry that day.
🛒 How It Works: Connection, Choice & Dignity
We believe you know your family’s needs best. Our pantry operates on a supportive check-in and points system rather than pre-packed parcels, ensuring you get exactly what you need.
- Take what you need: Our shelves are stocked with fresh bread, frozen meals, pantry staples, personal care and household items available to anyone experiencing hardship.
- No judgement, no paperwork: This is a safe, dignified space where you can select the items your family needs without all the forms to fill out.
- More than just food: Because our pantry is integrated with our counselling and outreach services, every visit includes a supportive check-in to see how else we can care for your wellbeing.
Your Step-by-Step Visit
| Step | What to Do |
|---|---|
| 1. Connect & Check In | Before every pantry visit (including your first time), please head upstairs to chat with our intake assessment team. This quick catch-up lets us see how you are doing and offer deeper support if you need it. |
| 2. Receive Your Points | During your chat upstairs, our team will allocate points to you based on your household size and our current stock levels. |
| 3. Shop the Shelves | Our team will take you downstairs to the lounge adjacent to the Pantry, while you wait for your turn to “shop”. Every item has a “points value” instead of a dollar price. You are free to browse and choose your own groceries. |
| 4. Take What You Love | Use your points to “purchase” items. This prevents waste and ensures you take home the essentials your family will actually use. |
🌟 How You Can Help
- Donate items: We accept unexpired non-perishable goods, fresh garden produce, and unopened toiletries and household items.
- Spread the Word: Let your neighbors, friends, or family know we are here to support them during tough times.
